As the kids know the best way to become a reader is READ...JUST READ! So while at home try and read for at least 30 minutes a day. This does not have to be all at once but can be once in the morning, afternoon and then the evening. Whatever works for your child. Raz- Kids is great as well because it lets the students answer comprehension questions. The students enjoy listening to reading but there is also a great option to record themselves and then play it back. Rereading the same book is great to develop fluency which includes the correct rate of reading (not too fast, not too slow... but just right!) as well as expression!
I will be sending home some ideas to accompany reading and writing as weekly assignments. Feel free to use what works for your family.
